| The Carr mirrors are unique in dentistry. They reflect 99.95% of visible light. These mirrors provide nearly 30% more than a traditional Rhodium coated mirror. These mirrors were initially developed for obtaining crystal-clear photographs, but they have now also become indispensable when clarity of vision and detail are needed in complex cases. When used for photography, they provide almost a full two f-stops increase in light. The clarity produced is also due to the fact their flatness is recorded at ¼ wavelength of light—an unbelievable flatness of surface usually only seen with astronomical mirrors.
They come in both rigid and flexible styles. The smaller flexible mounted mirrors are particularly valuable for limited access situations in second molar areas where the flexible shaft allows unimpeded access for the mirror and hand piece or hand instruments. Also useful for work deep in the canal where light is at a premium--for example, when removing separated instruments.
Compare the photographs between regular mirrors and these to see the difference.
